Old, Old Story (2003-2005) Probably Still True

Snopes says this is true:

Did you ever wonder how much it costs  a drug company for the active ingredient in  prescription medications?  Some people think it must cost a lot since many drugs sell  for more than $2.00 per tablet.  We did a search of   offshore chemical synthesizers that  supply the active ingredients found in drugs  approved by the FDA.  As we have revealed in past issues of Life Extension a significant  percentage of drugs sold in the United States contain active ingredients made in other  countries.  In our independent investigation of how much profit drug companies really make we obtained the actual price of  active ingredients used in some of the most popular drugs
sold in America.

Since  the cost of prescription drugs is so outrageous,  I thought everyone should know about this.  It pays to shop around!  This  helps  solve the mystery as to why they can afford to put a Walgreen's on every corner.  On Monday night, Steve Wilson, an  investigative reporter for Channel 7 News in  Detroit did a story on generic drug prices  gouging by pharmacies.  He found in his
investigation that some of these generic drugs  were marked up as much as 3,000% or more.
So often we blame the drug companies for the  high cost of drugs, and usually rightfully so.  But in this case the fault clearly lies with the pharmacies themselves. For example if you  had to buy a prescription drug, and
bought the  name brand, you might pay $100 for 100  pills.
The pharmacist might tell you that if  you get the generic equivalent, they would only  cost $80, making you think you are saving $20.  What the pharmacist is not telling  you is that those 100 generic pills may have  only
cost him $10!

At the end of the report, one of the  anchors asked Mr. Wilson whether or not there  were any pharmacies that did not adhere to this practice, and he said that Costco consistently  charged little over their cost for the
generic  drugs.

I went  to the Costco site, where you can look up any  drug, and get its online price.  It says that the in-store prices are consistent with the online prices. I was  appalled.  Just to give you one example  from my own experience I had to use the drug  Compazine which helps
prevent nausea in chemo  patients.

I used the generic equivalent, which  cost $54.99 for 60 pills at CVS.  I checked  the price at Costco, and I could have bought 100  pills for $19.89 - for 145 of my pain pills, I  paid $72.57.  I could have got 150 at Costco
for $28.08.

I would like to mention, that  although Costco is a 'membership' type store,  you do NOT have to be a member to buy  prescriptions there as it is a federally  regulated substance.  You just tell them at  the door that you wish to use the pharmacy, and  they will let you in.

I am asking each of  you to please help me by copying this letter and passing it into your own e-mail, and send it to  everyone you know with an e-mail address.

Encouragement to our high school students

With so many youth in our program, our staff wanted to encourage them to make the most of the education they have the privilege to receive. We expect great things from these wonderful young men and women!

MORE LOVE OF JESUS!

MORE LOVE OF JESUS!
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Matthew 24)
Are you ready?

Attention: Stephanie will be unavailable from August 30-November 1 for a Media Retreat and Jesus Feasting.

In the days of Noah, things were going along as usual. People were eating, visiting, thinking about how they looked or what they should do in the future. They were oblivious to the coming danger, although perhaps some had fear where the terrible state of things was heading. There was bound to be fear, hatred, revenge, gossip, critical judgments, and inconsiderate behavior in general as each tried to love their own but protect themselves against outsiders or the bad people.
Remember the wise and foolish virgins? Some were not ready. Jesus said, ""Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming." (Matthew 25) Please take a moment to read Matthew 25 (and maybe Matthew 24, if God has called you.)
What might it mean for you to watch and get ready?
First, review your life and lifestyle. Are you living as you want to be living when Jesus returns? Take stock of your activities. Is your time spent in consideration of the Kingdom of God? Who are you living for? Then you can adapt accordingly. You can look to Jesus in a fresh way and align your life to HIS PURPOSES. Everyone wants their life to have a purpose, but so often we are pursuing our own purposes as if Jesus was never going to return.
Since you do not know when He will come, how can you live as though He were going to return at any minute while also taking into account that you may live a long time? Always live an examined life. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and love those in whom you have contact in the same way that you make sure your personal needs are met (which means use some of that initiative to meet needs for other people beyond just you and yours, even actually extending to your enemies. Be merciful as your Father is merciful. And stand up to those who say they are good but are abusing others, as Jesus stood up to the Pharisees and religious leaders of the day on behalf of those abused.)
Now make sure you are encouraging others to live for Jesus and give Him their entire life, since He purchased them with His Blood that they would be reconciled to God. Some live as enemies of the cross and just pursue other gods, hobbies, recreation, and pleasures even though each sin was laid on the perfect and holy Jesus. Although we find sin within us, let us not pursue the fulfillment of wrongful desires. Let us lean into the Lord who is our Shepherd! He will lead us beside still waters and restore our soul. His yoke is easy and His burden light. He paid the price for us and we gain the power to overcome sin in our lives and live for righteousness. We cannot let our bad moods become an excuse for lashing out at others or making them pay. We have been given the victory over our flesh.
Let us do what we can to be a light in this dark world. Rather than just looking at the evil of terrorists and murderers, let us remember that anger is as murder. For those with the Holy Spirit within, we must allow Jesus to live through us because He has all patience within HIM and we are hidden with Him.
People get ready! Jesus is coming. If you should see a temple mount sharing peace agreement between Palestine and Israel, the temple will be rebuilt and you only have about seven more years of this world governmental system. I charge you to avoid the mark of the beast and take nothing upon you that would protect your identity and allow you to make purchases. He warned you to save you because you are the Beloved and His Sheep will hear His voice and live!
DISTRIBUTION IMAGE Blessings for the Children
At TGD, our core pillars are Jesus, education and food. In August, the all three of these areas were covered on distribution day at TGD's offices.
All our sponsored children, alongside their respective guardians were in attendance and each child received items to take home. Children in our home-based care each took home a Bible, cereals (corn and beans), wheat flour, cooking oil, soap and other essential sanitary items. The high school students, on the other hand, were given a Bible each and revision materials/items for some.
At the end of the day everyone walked away blessed, happy and thankful. Our TGD sponsorship program is changing lives solely for the glory of God.

BIBLES IMAGE Bibles for everyone
Different from previous months, August 2014 can also be termed the Bible month! In the distribution, all the sponsored children got each a Bible to carry home for their spiritual benefit.
A statement excerpt from Mathew 4:4, Jesus confirmed that not only revolves on bread alone, but also by the foundation lay down in our hearts by the word of God.
These little ones each got a Bible well thought out to suit their ages, interests and understanding. The younger children for instance bagged home children Bibles, senior children got bibles for senior students and high school students got   bibles designed for high school learners.
Through these brooks of Living Waters, may He, the potter, shape the best out of their character and being

TALK IMAGE Let's talk
Our team players convened a gathering with our High school sponsored children and had much to share with them. Among the agendas were:
  • Tips for better performance in school
  • Building up on their social skills
  • Listening to challenges they log heads with in school
  • Motivation for self esteem
  • Future plans of TGD
The team further touched on why they should avoid peer pressures and insisted on abstinence until marriage.
It was great feedback to learn that most of them are confident enough to speak in public eloquently. On the surprise list was also that most of them hold student leadership slots in their schools e.g. Vivian is a student's president in her school.
God is raising these young ones for greater heights!

JIGGER DISINFECTION IMAGE Jigger disinfection
Jiggers are a major problem in most parts of rural parts of western Kenya. Those attacked most are children who play and walk bare feet in unhygienic places least conscious of the danger lurking in such places.
Esther's family is a beneficiary of our efforts to get rid of these parasites. Two months ago our team visited them and delivered jigger disinfectants to the family. Current report indicates that the organisms are now under control and soon will be done away with completely.
Thank you so much for the donations that went towards realizing this difference.
 Blessings to you all!
